Hidden dangers of the sleazy life leave porn director feeling blue May 20, 2008 Apart from the obvious problems such as fatigue and struggling to rise to the occasion when the cameras call, there are all sorts of unexpected occupational hazards facing men working in adult movies, stick flick actor-cum-director Hitoshi Ichimura tells Spa! (5/20). "I also appear as an actor in a lot of the movies I direct, so I'm always worried about how much sperm I can produce," the 44-year-old stick flick star tells Spa! "Most guys wouldn't worry about something like this, but in my business the final ejaculation is called the money shot, so it's absolutely vital. "So, if I notice I'm not producing much, even during my normal sex sessions or while masturbating, it makes me think my days as an actor are coming to an end, which is a bit depressing." And the nature of Ichimura's work means he can never see women on the streets in the same way most men normally do. "Every time I pass a woman on the streets, I automatically calculate in my mind how much she'd be worth appearing in one of my movies," he says. "In normal movies, the director wouldn't give a hoot how much an actress is getting paid, but in adult movies, one of the director's responsibilities is also looking after the budget. Say you've got a production budget of 5 million yen, you've got to decide whether to use 10 unknowns who'll work for 300,000 yen apiece or take on a big star who commands a fee of 1 million yen." Ichimura says such concerns are with him all the time, wherever he is. "I'm always walking around looking at women," he tells Spa! "and telling myself, 'She's a bit part,' 'She's a star,' 'That one's a bit player, 'There's another star.'"
