Perverted psychic pinched for slipping healing hands into the 'honey pot' January 30, 2008 A Tokyo spiritual medium who claimed to have a psychic link to a Buddhist figure of wrath and vengeance has stirred up a bit of trouble of his own with accusations abounding that he diddled with the young women who paid a small fortune for his consultations, according to Shukan Post (2/8). Yukio Oyama was arrested for indecent assault earlier this month after he allegedly molested a young woman who'd gone to see him for a mystical consultation. He apparently lured her into stripping off. "I can see your inner illness," Shukan Post says, failing to mention that Oyama needed the woman to take off all her clothes before he could "see" inside her. "Your bowels and internal organs are weakening. I'll help you. Take off your clothes." With the young woman wearing her birthday suit, Oyama forced her to lie down on his bed while he ran his hands over her, including the most intimate parts, for about an hour, police say. Oyama denies any wrongdoing. "Anything I did," he says, "was part of my activities as a spiritualist. "I've done nothing obscene." Neighbors aren't really surprised to see the 53-year-old spiritual with the white goatee in trouble with the cops. "Oyama has been a soothsayer for about the past 13 years. The whole family has been going round for ages bragging about how they all have psychic powers," a neighbor of the Oyama family tells Shukan Post. "Oyama's mother used to say Yukio had the most supernatural powers of all the family. She went around saying that when he turned 40, (the Buddhist deity of wrath) Acalanatha came down to earth and Japan was in danger of sinking within 30 years of that time. She said that when the end of Japan came, Yukio would get six disciples and it was their fate to go under the sea. And she said all that with a straight face!" Though those nearby may have doubted his credibility, Oyama certainly had a following. He was estimated to have provided consultations to at least 1,000 people, his reputation being enhanced by word of mouth. "We'd often get young women coming here asking for directions to 'Dr. Oyama's place,' " a retailer from the area says. "Some of them came all the way here from really far places like Niigata or Yamaguchi prefectures. They really believed all this stuff." Oyama charged 10,000 yen for each hour-long "consultation" session. And though he may have provided spiritual healing to many, his telepathic powers didn't extend far enough to foresee his own arrest. An officer explains what the set-up was like inside Oyama's home. "He had this room he used for his spiritual sessions. There were all these scrolls with pictures of Buddhist gods on them and a bed placed next to the window. He'd tell the women who came to see him that he could see when they were going to die and that he could heal them just by touching their bodies, and other stuff like that, convincing them to willingly take off their own clothes while he offered to help them," the cop tells Shukan Post. "He clearly felt up some of the women who came to see him. But because the vast majority of women he touched truly believed he was performing some mystical function, none of them ever complained. Until now, that is."
